Knowing exactly where your child is in their learning can be a game changer. It takes the guesswork out of support, highlights gaps that may be holding them back and gives a clear starting point to rebuild confidence.
Our diagnostic assessments are designed to do just that. In just 60 minutes, we provide a professional, supportive snapshot of your child’s current level in either English or maths.
These assessments are a pre-requisite for any pupil in P1–S2 who wishes to work with us, as they allow us to tailor support from the very first session. However, they can also be booked as a standalone service if you simply want a clear understanding of your child’s strengths and areas for development, with absolutely no obligation to continue afterwards.
English Assessment
Our English assessment is designed to give a well-rounded picture of your child’s literacy skills. During the session, we explore key areas including phonics knowledge and application, reading and spelling age and grammar knowledge and understanding.
This allows us to identify not only where your child is performing well but also any underlying gaps that may be affecting their progress. Whether your child is finding reading tricky or lacking confidence in writing, this assessment helps pinpoint exactly what they need next.
Maths Assessment
Our maths assessment focuses on the essential building blocks needed for success. We assess core number knowledge including place value and number recognition, alongside mental and written strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We also look at basic number facts and problem solving skills.
Depending on your child’s confidence, we may explore additional areas to gain a fuller picture of their mathematical understanding. This ensures we can accurately identify strengths, misconceptions and the next steps needed to support progress.
