We love the idea of creating a special folder at home to compare a piece of work from September with something they have done in June. Visually seeing how much their handwriting, spelling, or maths has improved provides a wonderful boost to their self esteem. It beautifully highlights exactly what they have mastered.

Secondary students benefit from a slightly different approach to reflection. Once the intensity of exams has passed, having a relaxed, non judgemental chat can be highly valuable. Asking them which study techniques worked best and what they might like to do differently next year helps them take positive ownership of their learning.
